Concept

Collaborative, cohort-based approach to cultural production

Goals

• Shape stories that shine a light on the modern-day effects of colonialism, and demonstrate how persistent colonial practices can be disrupted through individual and collective action.
• Create cultural artefacts that communicate these stories in a powerful and engaging way
• Identify high-leverage actions that individuals can undertake to address the issue of colonialism. High leverage actions can be those with breadth – potentially widespread effects, or depth – shifting consciousness, mindsets and behaviour in groups and individuals in a lasting way.
• Weave a collective narrative through these works and potentially present them as a unified exhibition

Approach

Our current project is a four-week, intensive (!!), guided group program where participants co-create cultural artefacts that reveal the uncomfortable present day manifestation of colonialism. We empower the creators to express themselves and uncover previously hidden emotions and stories, focusing on works that challenge common but unspoken truths about colonialism.

The program includes four weekly in-person group sessions, supplemented by individual work in between. Each creator also has a weekly one-on-one session with Tara, our creative guide, to ensure the creators are supported in realising the full power of their stories.
