The Outspoken Native is part of a much larger effort. Many individuals and organizations are working on related issues, using different methods. If you find our work resonates with you, and want to support us, we'd love to hear from you! đź’Ś [email protected]

Offering Help

Before you reach out, here are some things to consider:

Do your homework : Our team, particularly our BIPOC collaborators, already contribute significant unpaid and unrecognized labour. If your suggestion adds more work to their load without offering practical solutions, please reconsider.

Be mindful : If you’re suggesting something obvious that we likely would have implemented if feasible, think twice. What’s really helpful is when you've done some groundwork yourself.

Some examples of “helpful” help…

If it's someone that you think the Outspoken Native should connect with, instead of just sharing that person's details with us, make the connection yourself first. Then make a warm introduction.

Instead of suggesting a venue or programme to join, reach out to them first, and only connect us if they agree to host us.

You have a great idea for something that would help the Outspoken Native or the broader movement. Reach out to us starting with what you will contribute too.

What We Really Appreciate

Specific, actionable offers that relieve our burden, not add to it.

Genuine efforts to engage with our work before suggesting changes or improvements.

Concrete support—like securing venues, resources, or partners—rather than vague ideas.

Sharing our message with those who need to hear it, rather than reiterating what we do back to us.

Fundamentally, battling colonial legacies is not something we do for fun. We would much rather be spending our free time napping, cultivating hobbies or baking. However, the reality is that the burden of tackling this issue sadly falls on some shoulders more than others.

Here are some concrete ways in which you can
